The foliage of this deciduous shrub is an attractive bronze-red when young. Ideal for a sunny, well-drained site, it makes an excellent specimen plant or colourful, informal flowering hedge. Garden care: Deadhead after flowering. In early spring, hard prune the flowered stems to a permanent framework 10-15cm (4-6in) above the ground.
