Mid-to-late summer flowering perennial with pink flowers. Position: full sun Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to September Hardiness: fully hardy Produced freely from spring to autumn, the larger than average flowerheads create a real impact in a sunny border. Keep cutting them for the vase to encourage more to form (they look great in more naturalised arrangements), but keep plenty for the bees and butterflies – it’s a firm favourite of theirs. Garden care: Protect young plants from slug damage using environmentally friendly slug pellets or beer traps. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and cut back the faded flower stems in autumn.
