Position: full sun to lightly dappled shade Soil: humus-rich, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to September Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection) Dark purple stems and calyces bear contrasting creamy-white flowers from mid to late summer. ‘Cool Cream’ is highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects and will provide elegance and height to summer plantings either in the border or in pots and containers. Garden care: To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon as they start to fade. As with most salvias trim back in late summer for autumn flowering and then leave over the winter. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring. Protect from excessive cold and waterlogged soils.
