Position: full sun Soil: well drained, moderately fertile, neutral to slightly acidic soil, or equal parts ericaceous compost, leaf mould and sharp sand if grown in a pot Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to August Hardiness: frost hardy (may need protection in colder areas) This easy to grow and long-flowering perennial is perfect for pots, rock gardens or gaps at the front of the border. It produces its star-like rose-red flowers in abundance – usually over several months throughout the summer, and it rarely succumbs to pests and diseases. Garden care: Avoid excessive moisture during the winter months, but water freely during summer. They will also benefit from a general purpose, liquid fertiliser feed as the foliage emerges during spring.
