Position: partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil or ericaceous compost Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: April to May Hardiness: fully hardy This compact, small-leaved rhododendron is ideal for patio pots and front of border positions. Its yellow-green flowers may not be as large as some of the other rhododendrons, but they appear in profusion early in the season, so it really puts on a great show when in bloom – while offering year-round form with its evergreen foliage. Garden care: Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
