Position: partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil or ericaceous compost Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to June Hardiness: fully hardy The rose-purple flowers of this compact rhododendron, often appear a little later than many of the others, and their petals have a deeper colouring towards their outermost edges. Ideal for containers, small spaces and border edges, ‘Robert Seleger’ is a lovely evergreen shrub with narrow, dark green leaves, which offer year-round structural interest. Garden care: Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
