A deciduous azalea with yellow flowers and colourful emerging bronze foliage. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil or ericaceous compost Rate of growth: average Flowering period: April Hardiness: fully hardy A showy addition to the spring display, when this deciduous azalea is laden with generous trusses of bright yellow flowers, each with a splash of deep gold in its throat. The new foliage will often come through with a bronze flush at around the same time as the flowers, and although quite subtle, it does add to the appeal. It makes a luminous addition to a partially shady border or woodland setting. Garden care: Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
