Position: partial shade Soil: moist, humus rich, neutral to acid soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to July Hardiness: fully hardy Forming slowly spreading rosettes of rich green leaves, this moisture-loving perennial looks beautiful in early summer when the poker-like flowerspikes are jettisoned upwards and the pure white flowers start to open. It looks wonderful when planted in meandering drifts – particularly when teamed with ferns or hostas. Each plant may be short-lived, however in the right conditions, it will usually spread to form naturalised colonies. Garden care: Divide large clumps after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
