Position: partial shade Soil: moist, humus rich, neutral to acid soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: March to May Hardiness: fully hardy Pretty as a painted Wedgwood willow-patterned plate, ‘Porcelain Blue’ is a hardy primula with lovely pale lavender-blue flowers and bright yellow centres above rosettes of rough, textured leaves. A lover of shady areas, this spring-flowering perennial will naturalise beneath shrubs and trees forming tight clumps over several years, occasionally flowering again in late summer or autumn. Why not try combining with our native pale-yellow form, Primula vulgaris, for a dazzling display? Garden care: Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
