A long-flowering, sun-loving shrub. Position: full sun to partial shade Soil: poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to August Hardiness: fully hardy A showy addition to the front of a sunny border, rockery or patio, this relatively new shrubby cinquefoil will keep on producing its larger than average flowers all summer. Initially rich orange in colour, the blooms do start to take on a golden yellow glow as they mature, so you will often have a mixture of both on the the plant at any one time. It’s an undemanding and easy to grow plant, that will become more tolerant of drought as it becomes established. Garden care: Trim lightly after flowering, cutting the older stems to the base and removing weak, spindly growth. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring.
