A mound-forming perennial with pale tan to deep orange leaves. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, moist or well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to August Hardiness: fully hardy A gorgeous heuchera, with colourful foliage and clusters of cream flowers in summer. The fresh new foliage unfurls each spring, and initially this is a bright golden colour, but as it matures, its shade deepens, finally maturing in summer to a rich honey-copper. It looks lovely planted in bold drifts and makes a great partner for plants that produce red or yellow flowers. It’s mainly semi-evergreen (although it can die back completely in colder winters), so it makes an excellent front border and groundcover plant. Garden care: Lift and divide large clumps in early autumn and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the crown of the plant in spring.
