Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, moist or well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to August Hardiness: fully hardy ‘Forever Purple’ is an amazing, compact herbaceous perennial with glossy, lobed, deep purple leaves with fluted edges that last well throughout the year. Purple-pink flowers on very short spikes appear throughout the summer and their shorter stems are well suited to more exposed sites. Heucheras are superb great for adding contrast and texture to surrounding plants, either in mixed plantings or containers. Garden care: Plant ‘Forever Purple’ incorporating a scoop of well-rotted compost into the planting hole. Heucheras grow well in most average soils – not too wet or too dry. Strong summer sun can scorch and crinkle the foliage. Spring and autumn are the best times to plant, when the ground is moist and warm, so they settle in easily. Remove tatty foliage in autumn. Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn to improve vigour, and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the crown of the plant in spring.
