A semi-evergreen perennial with orange-red foliage and sprays of pink flowers. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, moist or well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to July Hardiness: fully hardy Mounds of relatively large orange-red leaves, are topped in summer with sprays of small, pink-tinged white flowers. An eye-catching addition to pots or front of border line-ups, it will add a tropical feel to the planting scheme, and works well in borders with a ‘jungle’ theme. Garden care: Lift and divide large clumps in early autumn and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the crown of the plant in spring.
