A compact, clump forming perennial with purple leaves and pink flowers. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, moist or well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: June to July Hardiness: fully hardy A compact, clump-forming perennial forming a mound of ruffled leaves that emerge red maturing to rich mahogany. Grown for its luxuriant foliage, ‘Cherry Truffles’ is effective in large drifts, contrasting nicely with the silvers of Artemisia or the bright oranges of x Heucherella ‘Sweet Tea’. Airy sprays of small pale pink flowers appear above the colourful foliage from late spring into summer. Wonderful for the front of borders or brightly coloured pots. Garden care: Plant with a scoop of well-rotted compost or manure in the planting hole. Heucheras do not like dry soil. Remove tatty foliage in autumn. Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the crown of the plant in spring.
