Position: full sun Soil: poor to moderately-fertile, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil Rate of Growth: average to fast-growing Flowering period: March to June Hardiness: borderline hardy (may need winter protection) Deep red flowers fade to purple over time, borne in terminal clusters. ‘Winter Passion’ is in bloom for many months between spring and autumn. Perennial wallflowers work beautifully well when combined with similarly coloured tulips and a longer flowering period makes simultaneous floral displays easier to achieve. Garden care: Plant ‘Winter Passion’ with a scoop of well-rotted compost in the planting hole. Plants are naturally compact and mounding, but pruning back by half after flowering is wise to prevent them from getting leggy. Provide frost protection as required.
