The emerging flowers look like a Tequilla Sunrise with their merging tones of yellow and red and darken to the deeper coloured Spritz or Sangria, with flashes of red and peachy-salmon notes. Garden care: When planting ‘Summer Cocktail’ incorporate some well-rotted garden compost or manure and some mycorrhizal fungi into the planting hole. Once, established, lift and divide congested clumps in autumn or spring. Leave the flower heads for winter interest and as a food source for wildlife. In late winter/early spring cut back all dead flower stems to the ground and then mulch with organic matter.
