A dwarf herbaceous perennial with bright red flowers. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: July to October Hardiness: fully hardy Flowering continuously and profusely, the scarlet petals are tipped with yellow around a brick-red eye and bright golden stamens, smothering the fine, disease-resistant, thread-like foliage. Great for a real swarm of colour at the front of borders, or lining a path, ‘Ladybird’ just keeps on giving – as a compact and colourful perennial, or an excellent cut flower. Blooming marvellous! Garden care: Protect from frost with horticultural fleece and a thick organic mulch to protect the roots. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and water well during hot, dry spells. Cut the faded flower-stems back down to ground level in autumn and compost.
