These appear in mid- to late summer, held aloft like beacons on the upright stems. Each head is predominantly white, but is laced with a dandy pink topknot that looks a little like a spikey haircut. This will make a fab (and unusual) addition to the mixed or herbaceous border, and it will also be right at home in more naturalised settings. Garden care: Divide congested plants from autumn to spring and deadhead to prevent self-seeding.
