Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, fertile, humus-rich soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: March to April Hardiness: fully hardy In early spring, loose clumps of finely divided bright green foliage appears, and this is closely followed by showy pink flowers, each of which has a distinctive dark eye. A wonderful plant to kick off the growing season, it dies back soon after it has finished flowering, making way for the summer parade. Garden care: Avoid overwatering once they have started to die back in summer, and if possible apply a generous layer of dry mulch in autumn.
