A spring perennial anemone with lacey foliage and showy, deep blue flowers. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, fertile, humus-rich Rate of growth: average Flowering period: March to April Hardiness: fully hardy These much-loved spring flowering plants, may be small in stature, but they make a big impact when their super-sized blooms (up to 7cm across) start to open. Drift them throught the front of the border, or add them to a pot filled with bulbs and enjoy the show! Keep in mind that they die right back to below ground level after they finish flowering, so try pairing them with summer or autumn flowering perennials, which can steal their thunder once they are past their best. Garden care: Avoid overwatering once they have started to die back in summer, and if possible apply a generous layer of dry mulch in autumn.
