Invaluable plants for maintaining lots of colour in the border well into the autumn, they are cottage garden classics, but will also associate well with ornamental grasses, so work well in more naturalised settings too. Garden care: Don’t cut back the faded flower-stems until early spring, as they provide interest in the winter months. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring.
