A stunning variegated summer flowerering perennial with lavender blue flowers. Position: full sun Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained soil (or John Innes No. 3 compost for containers) Rate of growth: average Flowering period: July to September Hardiness: hardy (may need protection in winter) Introduced in 2001, ‘Notfred’ is an award-winning, free-flowering summer perennial with delicate tubular blooms of lavender blue held above striking, yellowish-green variegated foliage. This agapanthus works wonderfully well as a feature plant in a pot with a top dressing of fine washed gravel. Garden care: Keep well watered during the growing season, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month from spring until the plant flowers. Towards the end of September reduce the watering and feeding of plants in containers to allow the foliage to toughen up. Overwinter container-grown specimens in a cool greenhouse or conservatory, watering sparingly.
